To promote participation and diversity among students, ACM SIGMM and the ACM ICMR 2026 Organising Committee will offer a number of travel grants for students. There are a limited number of grants available, so grants are being prioritised for PhD students.

SIGMM has centralised support for standard student travel for in-person participation. Any student member of SIGMM is eligible to apply (join SIGMM here), however, the students who are the first author of an accepted paper (in any track/workshop) are particularly encouraged to apply. The grants can cover any travel expenses, such as airfare/shuttle, hotel, and meals. Please note that the awards can not cover the cost of registration.

In addition to being a SIGMM member, the applicant must be enrolled in a university at the time of the application submission.

Selection Criteria

  • PhD students who are the primary authors of an accepted paper in the main conference or workshops will be given preference in the selection process.
  • Students who are not undertaking a PhD course of study, or students without papers accepted for publication at ACM ICMR 2026 and related workshops, but involved in research closely related to the topics of ACM ICMR and related workshops, can apply and also be considered.
  • Female and minority students' applications are especially encouraged.

Application Procedure

Please submit an online application using this form. Applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and the applicants will be notified in due time. The application system is now open, and it will remain open until 22 April 2026.

Contact

For any queries, please contact SIG MM directly (contact information is at the bottom of the application form).

Due to the volume of emails, the GCs and TPCs will not be responding to questions about the travel awards.
